Vehicle prices are very rarely equal to the exchange rates, due to varying tax rates. The cost of a new car in GBP vs USD is generally pretty close (numerically). Not a very good comparison, if that’s what you’re getting at.

I know. Just that many North Americans don’t fully understand how expensive car ownership can be in Europe... and it starts with vehicles that cost much more new.

But I’m guessing that if Ford brought that truck over, they’d still charge something like US$40,000 for that nicely spec’d one with 4 doors and the V6 diesel.

That parts bin interior looks like its almost destined for the US market.

$40k was the number in my head, too. I would say the difference in purchase price should be less of a shock to North Americans - at least compared to the difference in fuel/insurance costs.

Well now that we both agree that US$40K would be reasonable, Ford will now see that and try to charge us $45,000... but then offer us a $3000 incentive to makes us feel like we got a good deal...

Isn't this what we are purportedly going to get since production is supposed to move to Michigan?

Hey, I didn't say I'd pay it. Just that when you adjust for exchange rate I think that would be realistic. I'm not about to drop any money on a truck, hah. Sorry, Ford.

And now Ford read THAT and now are gonna say “See? There’s no market for small trucks...”

LOL

Includes VAT, which a business customer can recover. It’s the most expensive model as well.
